The consortium of the CSA BrainHealth comprises 21 participants spanning 11 countries. Together, they will collaboratively conduct the tasks necessary to achieve the CSA’s objectives and are supported by a robust and streamlined management structure.
Coordination of the CSA BrainHealth
The Project Management Agency of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) coordinates the CSA through an experienced Coordinator and a dedicated Secretariat. The Coordinator is the direct contact person to the European Commission.
The Project Steering Committee (PSC)
The PSC is the decision-making body with equal voting rights for the execution of the CSA. It oversees the execution of the CSA. Representatives of the European Commission, or relevant stakeholders may be invited to attend meetings as observers without voting capacity. The day-to-day implementation of the work plan is conducted within the work packages by the work package and task leaders who constitute the Operational Group.
Funders Forum (FF)
The FF includes representatives of ministries and funding bodies from European Member States and Associated Third Countries, and private funders. The FF members represent the views of regional and national funding programmes. This inclusive approach empowers members of the FF to actively contribute to and influence the formulation of the future EP BrainHealth concept, particularly in the development of the Strategic Research and Innovations Agenda (SRIA). It involves adopting the implementation plan and roadmap derived from the SRIA, and entails a commitment to providing both, political and financial support for the establishment of a future Partnership on BrainHealth.
The FF has a prominent role in the CSA governance; being informed of project progress and consulted by the PSC through the Coordinator in strategic matters. To date, over 50 funding bodies from 28 countries have expressed interest in the planned European Partnership on BrainHealth and joined the FF, with more bodies expected to join in the future.
General Assembly (GA)
Strategically relevant decisions with immediate significance for the future EP BrainHealth are discussed and consented in the GA encompassing the European Commission, Project Steering Committee, and the Funders Forum. The GA will thus be the strategic foundation of the CSA and meets at least 1-2 times per year.
Scientific Advisory Board (SAB)
The SAB comprises distinguished scientists, carefully chosen to ensure a balanced and diverse representation across various topics, genders, and geographical locations. Their role is to provide expert consultation on scientific matters relevant to the CSA.
Stakeholders Forum (SF)
The CSA actively engages in its work plan a variety of stakeholder communities and (European and international) initiatives in a SF, e.g. research infrastructures, patient representatives, health care providers and payers, regulators, industry. The PSC consults with members of the SF seeking their input and advice to incorporate diverse perspectives on ongoing developments and needs in brain health.
