On December 9-10, 2024, the CSA BrainHealth took part in the “Towards Strengthened European Cooperation in Brain Health Research” conference, hosted in Budapest under Hungary’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. The event, organized by Hungary’s National Research, Development, and Innovation Office (NRDIO) with support from the European Commission, aimed to strengthen collaboration and innovation in brain research across Europe.
The conference showcased the critical importance of cross-sectoral united efforts to tackle the burden of brain-related conditions, which affect approximately a third of European citizens. The European Partnership for Brain Health and the work of the CSA BrainHealth were a central focus of discussions.

In the session “Pieces of the Same Puzzle: Good Practices and Recommendations for Pan-European Joint Efforts,” moderated by Gergely Katona (HUN-REN TTK), panelists including Philippe Amouyel (JPND), Ulrike Bußhoff (CSA BrainHealth, ERA-Net NEURON), Philippe Vernier (EBRAINS), and Frédéric Destrebecq (European Brain Council) shared insights from leading coordinated European brain health initiatives.
The plenary session titled “Introducing the Designing of a European Brain Health Landscape,” provided an update on the upcoming European Partnership for Brain Health and the development of a joint Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. Led by Ulrike Bußhoff and Catherine Marquer (CSA BrainHealth, French National Research Agency), this session detailed the state of play, discussed the next steps for the Partnership, and engaged participants in a dynamic Q&A session.
The conference reaffirmed the vital role of collaboration in advancing brain health research and the need for a coordinated strategy to drive progress in prevention, treatment, and care.
