On 21 June 2025, the CSA BrainHealth took center stage at the EAN TV Studio session, hosted by the European Brain Council (EBC) during the 11th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology in Helsinki. The session, entitled “Funding the Future of Brain Research in Europe: Towards a European Brain Health Partnership”, shed light on the ambitious plans and strategic framework of the upcoming European Partnership for Brain Health (EP BrainHealth), set to launch in January 2026.
Moderated by Conny Lee, the session featured insights from Dr. Ulrike Bußhoff (Coordinator of the CSA BrainHealth, German Aerospace Agency – DLR), Dr. Catherine Marquer (International Neurosciences Coordinator at the French National Research Agency – ANR) and Frédéric Destrebecq (Executive Director of the European Brain Council – EBC); a recording of the session is available here.

Ulrike Bußhoff opened the discussion by emphasizing the Partnership’s role in addressing the high societal and economic burden of brain disorders through a unified, coordinated research and funding strategy, involving both the European Commission and Member States. With an expected budget of nearly €500 million, the Partnership will become a major comprehensive brain health research initiative. Catherine Marquer then introduced the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) – the backbone of the Partnership – designed through extensive consultation with scientists, funders, patient organizations, the private sector and policymakers. Frédéric Destrebecq then highlighted the global relevance of the EP BrainHealth, noting the growing international attention towards Europe’s bold move in creating a transnational brain health agenda.
This session demonstrated the readiness of the European brain community to turn vision into action — paving the way for a healthier, brain-healthy Europe.
