Dear Subscriber,
The Coordination and
Support Action (CSA) BrainHealth is the preparatory phase for
the European Partnership for Brain Health. The project started on
November 1st, 2023 with a runtime of 24 months. Funded by the
European Commission, it builds the umbrella for 21 participants from
11 countries.
With the third issue of the CSA
BrainHealth’s newsletter, we would like to look back at the past
five months, which were marked by significant progress for the
project, such as the second General Assembly in Riga, the Foresight
Symposium and participating in an event in the European Parliament,
and participation in key events.

Second General Assembly in Riga
The second General Assembly of the Coordination & Support
Action BrainHealth (CSA BrainHealth) successfully took place on 13
May 2025, hosted by the University of Latvia and the Latvian Council
of Science (LZP) in Riga. Gathering project partners, national
funders, policymakers, patients, researchers and civil society
representatives, this meeting reviewed the progress made toward the
upcoming European Partnership for Brain Health (EP BrainHealth) –
envisaged start in 2026, and presented its structure and key
priorities.

Register to the Final Conference of the CSA BrainHealth
15 October 2025,
Brussels & Online
After two years of shaping the foundations of the future European
Partnership for Brain Health (EP BrainHealth), the CSA BrainHealth
will host its Final Conference during the 2025 edition of the Brain
Innovation Days. This hybrid event will present the Partnership’s
strategic vision, its key research priorities and the collaborative
roadmap designed to accelerate breakthroughs in brain science,
diagnostics, care and innovation across Europe and globally.
The programme will feature high-level keynotes and panel
discussions from all partners and beyond on:
Structuring the brain health ecosystem
- Accelerating innovation & improving competitiveness
- Overcoming global barriers to data sharing
- Building future research capacities
The Final Conference will culminate in a high-level closing panel
to reflect on Europe’s leadership in brain health and the
Partnership’s potential to drive tangible impact for the millions
living with a brain disorder, neurological and mental alike.

2025 Foresight Symposium on ‘Biological, social and
environmental factors that protect or threaten brain health across
the lifespan’
14 May 2025,
Riga
The Foresight Symposium brought together leading scientists,
representatives of patient organizations and stakeholders to shape
the future research agenda on brain health, with a life-course
perspective. Central themes included the key factors influencing
brain health over the life course, but also prevention, early
detection, resilience, understanding brain disease mechanisms, and
advancing therapeutic strategies. The Foresight Symposium 2025 on
‘Biological, social and environmental factors that protect or
threaten brain health across the lifespan’ focused on protective and
risk factors impacting brain health trajectory across the
lifespan.

Advocating for a Stronger EU Brain Research Agenda in the
European Parliament
26 June 2025,
Brussels
On 26 June 2025, the CSA BrainHealth took centre stage at the
European Brain Council’s event in the European Parliament:
“Advancing Brain Research in Europe: A Call for Collective Action”
Hosted by MEP Romana Jerković, the event brought together
policymakers, researchers, funders and civil society to underscore
the urgency of building a coherent, long-term strategy for brain
research in Europe.
This high-level session set a clear tone: brain health is not
only a health challenge, but a strategic imperative for Europe. The
CSA BrainHealth’s presence in the European Parliament reinforced the
growing momentum behind the Partnership and the shared commitment to
a stronger, more inclusive brain research ecosystem.

Towards a Global Brain Research Agenda Webinar

Webinar, 16 June 2025
Organised by the CSA BrainHealth, the “Towards a Global Brain
Research Agenda” Webinar was held on 16 June 2025. The event
provided a platform for leading international organisations to share
updates on their initiatives in brain health, research and
innovation, foster open discussion on potential collaboration and
reflect on the challenges and best practices in brain health policy
and practice. Setting the stage for continued dialogue and joint
action in the pursuit of better brain health outcomes worldwide, the
webinar underscored the need for cross-sector collaboration,
preventive strategies, and the involvement of diverse stakeholders
in designing and implementing brain health initiatives.

Professional Congresses
|
EAN Congress,
June 19-24, Helsinki
On 21 June 2025, the CSA BrainHealth took center stage at the EAN
TV Studio session, hosted by the European Brain Council (EBC) during
the 11th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology in Helsinki.
The session, entitled “Funding the Future of Brain Research in
Europe: Towards a European Brain Health Partnership”, shed light on
the ambitious plans and strategic framework of the upcoming European
Partnership for Brain Health (EP BrainHealth), set to launch in
January 2026.
Moderated by Conny Lee, the session featured insights from Dr.
Ulrike Bußhoff (Coordinator of the CSA BrainHealth, German Aerospace
Agency – DLR), Dr. Catherine Marquer (International Neurosciences
Coordinator at the French National Research Agency – ANR) and
Frédéric Destrebecq (Executive Director of the European Brain
Council – EBC).

Science Summit of the 80th United Nations General Assembly
24-26 September,
New York & Online
Held in parallel with the United Nations High-Level Conference on
Non-Communicable Diseases, the Global Brain Coalition will host a
two-days high-level event as part of the Science Summit of the 80th
United Nations General Assembly in New York City. The CSA
BrainHealth will take part in the event to showcase the work done in
paving the way towards an EU Partnership for Brain Health,
structuring research priorities, and connecting with relevant
international partners.

Final Conference, 2025 Brain Innovation Days
October 2025,
Brussels
In October 2025, the CSA BrainHealth will join the 5th edition of
the Brain Innovation Days, where it will host the project’s Final
Conference. Organized by the European Brain Council, the Brain
Innovation Days bring the brain ecosystem together to foster
dialogue, exchange knowledge, accelerate investment in research
& innovation and facilitate business development.
